Natasha & Max | Artsy Tattoo Shop Engagement Session | Brooklyn, NY

One of the coolest couples I ever got to work with was Natasha & Max. Natasha and I got to collaborate on a photoshoot when they took a trip to visit NYC. When they ended up moving to Brooklyn shortly after, we reconnected for an epic engagement session at a tattoo and oddities shop.

The couple got coordinated pieces, one in full color, one in black and white, inspired by their favorite stories in “The Illustrated Man”, a collection of science fiction shorts by Ray Bradbury. When we arrived for their appointments, they signed their release forms, played a game of rock paper scissors to decide who went first, and settled in for an afternoon getting inked. Between their sessions, we took a walk over to the Gowanus Canal to stretch out and grab a few portraits.

This pair are both artists themselves! Natasha creates beautiful floral pieces and vintage inspired jewelry at Auris Floris. Max is a graphic designer and illustrator.

Since I’m a big fan of tattoos, I had always wanted to do a session like this! As always, I’m so grateful to get to work with such creative and alternative couples always down for adventure!

Huge thank you to the incredible owners at Triple Diamond Tattoo for letting me document most unique & permanent engagement session! Tattoos by artist Hillary Blair.

Kathryn & Mary | Christmas Central Park Elopement | New York, NY

For Christmas 2018, Kathryn and Mary flew over to New York City from Ireland, and eloped in secret! Not even their closest family members back home knew what they were up to on the 26th of December.

The team from Once Upon A Vow, officiant sister duo Daniela and Karla, introduced me to the lovely couple. In the months leading up to their elopement, we all worked together to plan a beautifully simple day in Central Park for these two to celebrate the start of their marriage. Central Park was an extra special place for them to be wed, as it’s where they got engaged a few years earlier,

The semi-private ceremony was held at Wagner’s Cove, followed by a stroll/photo session throughout the park. We got lucky with a sunny afternoon, it was almost a little too warm for their fuzzy matching jackets! It was easy, breezy, relaxing, and full of quiet, loving moments.

Congrats to Kathryn and Mary, wishing you a very happy first anniversary!

Jenna & James | Modern Autumn Wedding | Brooklyn, NY

On a sun-soaked fall day in early October, Jenna and James celebrated the start of their marriage. It was a perfectly warm afternoon full of family, flowers, and love.

There were many traditional elements the couple put modern spins on. Jenna created a romantic, natural setting, surrounded by greenery in every room of the venue, adding smalls touches with blooms and crystals scattered throughout the space. After their sunset ceremony, they partied all night, dancing “under the stars” with a view of the NYC skyline.

Congratulations to Jenna, James, their families, and their new rescue pup Henry! Wishing you all the happiness in the world.

Eliza & Eric | Spooky Glam Engagement Session | Salem, MA

Happy Halloween!

The last photo session I had with my sister, Eliza, and her then-boyfriend, Eric, happened in their Hollywood condo less than two weeks before they got engaged. Now they are living on the East Coast and are officially tying the knot (eventually), so we cooked up a spooky little session to celebrate the season in Salem, Massachusetts, which also happens to be where Eliza was born.

One morning, a few days before a trip to Boston, I woke up with a vision of my sister in a black dress, wearing dark lipstick, while holding a white bouquet in front of the Salem Witch House. So we ordered a dress from Rent the Runway, DIY-ed a bouquet with flowers from Whole Foods together, and got a little glamorous on a Monday morning. The three of us walked along the cobblestone streets, and through the cemetery, taking in history of the witchy town.
