Desert Daisy Jewelry | 2016 Holiday Collection | Las Vegas, NV

Several months ago, I participated in a weekly social media challenge through the Rising Tide Society and discovered the gorgeous jewelry designed by Emma of Desert Daisy Jewelry. At the time, I had an idea for a styled shoot her work would be perfect for. When the time to plan the shoot came, I reached out to see if she would be interested in contributing a few of her pieces. She was delighted to hear about the theme (more on that coming soon!) and we knew we were on to collaborating on something amazing.

My shoot was planned for just two days before a Vegas vacation where Desert Daisy Jewelry just happens to be located! Emma and I decided to meet for coffee so I could return her custom made pieces in person instead of shipping them back to her. Little did I know when we originally made those plans they would morph into much more than a get together at Starbucks! I had a little extra time one morning during my trip so we decided on a photo shoot instead! She threw together a creative made up of the most wonderfully talented ladies I could imagine connecting with on a trip across the country! All together, we made magic! Behold, the Ice Princess inspired 2016 holiday collection from Desert Daisy Jewelry.

It's a Pleasure to Meet You!

Hey! This is my very first experience with blogging.

Last year, I went through some major changes personally and professionally. I have always been afraid to put myself out there, to be vulnerable, to risk the opinions, critiques, and judgments of others.

Recently, I realized I was holding myself back. The world is a big, sometimes scary place, but if I don't do it now, when will I? Maybe people won't like what I have to say or my work, but maybe they will. Maybe there will be a negative comment, but maybe there will be others offering support and love. I had a bad experience with an anonymous comment long ago and I let that influence every other online interaction since. Not anymore. I have a voice and a good eye! So why not now? Why not choose TODAY?

Last year I joined an incredible movement, the Rising Tide Society. This community lifts me up, motivates me, provides support, encouragement, and the kindest words. It has inspired me in many ways and introduced me to wonderful people. I'm learning, making new friends and having fun! It's made me see it is okay to be vulnerable.

In order to get out of my comfort zone, I decided to get in front of the camera! I've never been comfortable having my photo taken. I'm definitely one of those people with a "good side". No matter how hard I try, being on the wrong side makes me uncomfortable and my smile becomes forced. Photographers have ignored this in the past and I wasn’t happy with the results. This actually helps me empathize with clients who feel the same.

Last weekend I had my girlfriend/assistant, Olivia, take over as photographer. What a learning experience for us both! Observing her direct me gave me a fresh perspective for the way I direct my clients. It was interesting and eye opening. Olivia did a great job making me relax. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon together!

In 2015, I gained more confidence in myself as a person and as a photographer. I can't wait to see what happens next!
