Butter and Scotch | Queer Carnival Microwedding Inspiration | Brooklyn, NY

For Pride 2019, I worked with a team of queer vendors (and a few allies) who represent the Brooklyn LGBTQ+ community to create this fun inspiration for a vow renewal. We wanted to celebrate our individuality, our creativity, and our authentic selves as queer business owners in the wedding industry. Each vendor was encouraged to create their designs however they felt inspired by our modern carnival mood board, the bride’s bright pink hair, and the couple’s actual wedding day attire, custom coordinating the tablescape, florals, stationary, and cake.

The bulk of the decor elements were sourced second-hand to reduce environmental impact by Emily Monus Events, and the stationery suite by Ephemora used colors from the original Pride flag, turquoise for art and pink for sexuality, chosen by the couple (who met at San Francisco Pride in 2014). The venue and three-tiered cake were provided by Butter & Scotch, a feminist, woman-owned bar in Brooklyn always fighting for social justice.

See how it all came together in our feature on Offbeat Bride. Images and the full vendor team are below.

Kathryn & Mary | Christmas Central Park Elopement | New York, NY

For Christmas 2018, Kathryn and Mary flew over to New York City from Ireland, and eloped in secret! Not even their closest family members back home knew what they were up to on the 26th of December.

The team from Once Upon A Vow, officiant sister duo Daniela and Karla, introduced me to the lovely couple. In the months leading up to their elopement, we all worked together to plan a beautifully simple day in Central Park for these two to celebrate the start of their marriage. Central Park was an extra special place for them to be wed, as it’s where they got engaged a few years earlier,

The semi-private ceremony was held at Wagner’s Cove, followed by a stroll/photo session throughout the park. We got lucky with a sunny afternoon, it was almost a little too warm for their fuzzy matching jackets! It was easy, breezy, relaxing, and full of quiet, loving moments.

Congrats to Kathryn and Mary, wishing you a very happy first anniversary!

Robert & Michael | Central Park Elopement | New York, NY

Robert & Michael came up to NYC from Atlanta to elope on an absolutely beautiful fall day this past October. We bonded over our mutual love of dogs and strolled through the park to their ceremony spot at Shakespeare Garden. To be the only witness in such an intimate moment is truly awe-inspiring, as their sweet love was so calming to be around.

Thank you to the amazing officiant sister team at Once Upon A Vow for connecting us and congrats again to this handsome couple!

LAUNCH DAY

whomstudio_kate-alison-photography_0257.jpg

This personal project has been a long time coming. I am so excited to present my new website for Kate Alison Photography! I worked very closely with Kristen, of Kristen Poissant Studio, to create this beautiful, colorful rebrand of my wedding & portrait work.

The goal of rebranding was to make sure my couples know exactly who and what they are getting when they book their wedding or portrait session. My images are full of love, life, color, personality, and sometimes glitter! It is so important to connect with your photographer and I want everyone I work with to know how special and unique you are. My work represents love of all kinds and telling a story with images is my true passion.

Thank you to Kristen for bringing my vision to life, to Candace for my branding image session, to Megan of Art By Megan, and the rest of my Rising Tide Society community for their unwavering support, and of course, my love, Olivia. Couldn't have done any of it without you! Welcome to the newer, brighter, shinier Kate Alison Photography!
